Volunteer and Internship Opportunities

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Melissa at 414-529-7744 or Trimborn@milwaukeehistory.net.

Reception Desk/Gift Shop
Be the first person to greet our visitors. Answer phones, transfer calls, and provide basic information to callers. Gift shop purchases are made at the reception desk. The sales process is easy to understand and use.

Harry H. Anderson Research Library
The Library has volunteer opportunities for individuals or student interns who can give at least one shift of 3 hours per week and are willing to commit to specific projects that may last for several months. We often have projects that involve sorting, cataloging, cleaning, microfilming or moving archival materials. Some of the work requires the ability to lift at least 20 pounds and be able to work with basic computer programs.

Trimborn Docents
Docents educate the public about the history of this unique Wisconsin site. Opportunities are available at both Trimborn Farm and the Jeremiah Curtin House. Lead school and adult tours and/or assist with drop-in programs. No experience is necessary. All training will be provided.

Jeremiah Curtin House
The Curtin House, an 1840s Irish cottage-style home, is open for Sunday tours from 1 to 4 p.m. from May through mid-October. Docents greet guests and provide information about the Curtin Family, and Jeremiah in particular. No experience is necessary. All training will be provided.

Kilbourntown House Herb Garden
Volunteers are needed to plant, tend, and/or manage the heirloom gardens during the growing season. Watering is done by the Kilbourntown House docent. The house is open from the beginning of June through Labor Day weekend Saturdays, and Sundays. However, gardening can be conducted when the house is closed.

Trimborn Special Events Volunteers
Help is needed for the Folk Art Show (May), Ethnic Concerts (June, July, August), Harvest of Art & Crafts (September), and the Civil War Encampment (October) each year. Activities include setup; takedown; selling admissions, food, or raffle tickets; assisting with parking; and greeting shuttle buses. No experience is necessary.

Computer Data Entry
Assistance with computer data entry of information taken from surveys or other sources is another volunteer task.
