Abstract: John Driscoll was a native of Ireland who served in the British navy for four years before “escaping” and immigrating to the U.S. He joined the U.S. navy during the Civil War, serving on the Galana for a number of years. He left the navy in 1866 and moved to Milwaukee where he worked with the Illinois Steel company until 1883. He then became a bridgetender at the East and West Water Street bridges.
Scope and Content: The collection consists of a scrapbook with newspaper clippings related to American involvement in the Spanish-American War.
