Abstract: Dietz was involved in Milwaukee politics for nearly forty years.  He was elected justice of the peace in 1904, became city comptroller in 1910, and in 1918, he was elected alderman of Milwaukee’s 10th Ward, a position he held until he retired in 1948.  In addition to his political career, Dietz was very much interested in music, composing several song, and also apparently was an automobile enthusiast.

Scope and Content: The collection consists of a “Log Book of a Motor Car” (1906-1909) that includes entries with trip details, expenses, and related information; song lyrics to “The Old Sixth Ward” written by Dietz for a meeting of the Native Sons and Old Timers of the Old Sixth Ward, 1950; and a sheet music cover for “My Rose of Milwaukee” composed by Dietz.
