75 years, 75 stories.
Throughout 2010, the Milwaukee County Historical Society will celebrate its 75th anniversary. Since its incorporation in 1935, the Society has been tasked with preserving and presenting Milwaukee and Milwaukee County history to the community through exhibitions, programming and research.
During this celebratory year, we will continue to provide these services to our members and the community at large and we will hold special events as part of our celebration of being the caretaker of Milwaukee’s history for seventy-five years. Check our calendar to view our celebratory events.
The main component of our anniversary will center around our exhibition: Unlocking the Vault: 75 Years, 75 Stories, narratives surrounding seventy-five of the Society’s rarest collection pieces.
In coordination with the exhibit, our Curatorial staff has created the Adopt an Artifact program, which supports the ongoing preservation and conservation of collection pieces in the exhibit and in the entire collection.
Events of the Anniversary celebration are open to sponsorship, by both individuals and businesses. Supporters of the events receive benefits befitting their level of support. Sponsorship of various events is limited, so become a special partner of our celebration today!
Have you ever wanted to work in a museum? Volunteers are the lifeblood of our organization, and the Society is always looking for more people to get involved. Society staff and their departments are constantly looking for quality individuals to help out with collections, development, front-line tasks, etc.
2010 promises to be a memorable year for the Milwaukee County Historical Society. Support for our exhibits and events during our anniversary help programming for the future become reality.
